Calgary Blue Jays Spring Baseball

cal west spring baseball 2023 Blue Jays

The spring of 2023 was unlike any spring I’ve seen in my 20 years here in Calgary. Usually we brace ourselves for lots of cold, windy, even snowy games. This spring actually felt more like a summer (like an Ontario summer!), with lots of warm sunny evenings.

We lucked out big time with a team stacked with lots of us who already knew each other - this made both the kids and parents super happy!

To top it all off, our kids managed to win their Championship game!

I photographed our second-last game, which is what I’m sharing here. The lighting situation with outdoor sports in harsh sunny conditions is a challenging, but also something I have LOTS of experience with.

The storytelling perspective is always my main approach, making the best use of composition, light and as always the MOMENTS.

Enjoy!

Storytelling Through Baseball:

I hope you enjoyed the images I captured from my son’s baseball game. I miss watching these kids already!

Photographing real life is a powerful way to capture genuine moments and emotions, and to tell a story. While posed photos can be beautiful, they often lack the authenticity and emotion that come documentary photography (my specialty). So the next time you're considering a family photoshoot, consider opting for a Day in the Life session with me - you’ll be glad you did!

Are YOU ready for your family’s story to be told through photographs? I can’t wait to hear from you!

Alison holds the professional designation of Craftsman of Photographic Arts (CPA) by the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC). In addition to this designation, she is also an accredited and award-winning professional through the PPOC.

When you hire a professional documentary family photographer, you are giving yourself and your loved ones a front row seat to the story of your lives.

Transform life’s ‘everyday’ moments into meaningful art through storytelling photography.
