Introducing Documentary Family Photography: A Day in the Life
Do you ever feel like your family photos are stiff and forced? Maybe you’ve tried to coordinate matching outfits, or you’ve hired a photographer who spends more time posing you than capturing real moments. If this sounds like you, it’s time to try something different: documentary family photography.
Documentary family photography is not about staging or faking it. It’s about capturing real moments that naturally occur between family members.
It’s a day in the life.
As a documentary family photographer, my goal is to photojournalistically document your family as you are, without any direction or interference from me.
No matching clothes required. No forced smiles. Just be yourselves.
What does a documentary family photography session look like?
A documentary session at your home is pretty much like having a friend over. It’s very relaxed and stress-free.
Your day is up to you. We can spend the day in your home, capturing the everyday moments that make your family unique. Maybe it’s breakfast time chaos, playing board games, or snuggling up to read a book. Or we can venture outside and document a family hike, a trip to the park, or a visit to the farmer’s market.
You will get to plan your day with me ahead of time on our pre-session consult. Understanding your family dynamic and routines will help me to create the best experience for you.
The possibilities are endless.
The beauty of documentary family photography is that there are no rules. I’ll be there to capture the moments that matter to you. Maybe it’s a sibling hug, a silly face, or a quiet moment of contemplation. Whatever it is, I’ll be there to document it.
The resulting images will be a true reflection of your family, and will be cherished for years to come.
If you’re ready to try something different, something authentic, get in touch. Let’s capture the real moments that make your family special.
